Yellow River flows west of China from its sources in Qinghai towards Bohai sea at Dongying, Shandong province. It flows through 9 provinces from Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, border of Shaanxi and Shanxi, Henan and Shandong.

Yellow River is the cradle of Chinese civilisation. Many Neolithic (7,000 BC-3,700 BC), Bronze (3,700 BC-2,700 BC) and Iron Age Sites have been discovered within its drainage basin.
